I have a problem with the primary fuel filter on a 3 cylinder diesel model. The filter body is not original and I have been unable to find a new filter and sealing ring to fit it. Replacement primary filter bodies seem impossible to find and I've heard that some people have used two secondary filters instead. Does anybody know how to get the necessary pipe work made up to do this? Any other solutions?

Hi Dean,

It depends on the model of your tractor (i.e. is it a MF35 or something more modern. Some more recent models have a screw to turn to change the speed at which the arms drop.

If it is a 35 then you would need to take a look at the hydraulic system to see what is the matter. Presujing nothing simple like the stop on the quadrants is incorrectly located then...

I would suggest sticking control valve would be the most likely cause. The control valve could just be sticking or it could be the control valve spring which is broken/weak.

In theory there is a whole host of other possible causes, but the control valve would be the first thing to check. You can see what it is doing by looking through the right hand side inspection plate (DO NOT PLACE YOUR HANDS INSIDE WHILST TRACTOR IS RUNNING).
