Hi Chris,
Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment and reminding us all to take care when starting a tractor.
What sort of tractors and machinery do you work on? (Maybe it isn't possible to answer that question too succinctly). Is it an arable or livestock area?

Hi conrad - I saw your post and said i'd reply, im more familiar with the 65's / 165's, im guessing one of 2 possible issues causing this
1. is your tractor going into neutral ok - can you select all the gears? if not you may have a selector issue

2. with the tractor in neutral and the brake off, roll the machine back and fourth - if it wont roll there is an issue with one of the torque converters (big lumps just inside the back hubs)

Best of luck

Love reading your site, I am a professional self employed ag mechanic of over 40 years experience in Australia. Re the video of starting FE35, never, never, never start a tractor without sitting in the driver seat, too many people have been killed or seroiusly injured by using Richards method, not to mention damage to the starter/ solenoid, and here in Australia all those flying sparks would start a bushfire in no time.

Hi Rob,

Just take a look at the<a href="http://vintagetractorengineer.com/2009/01/mf35-fe35-mf35x-serial-numbers-and-year-of-manufacture/" rel="nofollow"> Massey Ferguson 35 serial number page</a>.

That would make yours a 1958.

Hi Steve,

I'm afraid the only DVD's we have currently are the ones you see for sale on the website. The plans for the near future are to do technical videos for the TE20 - we have just started filming a hydraulics DVD for this model.
