Hello there!
O.K. I'm rebuilding my 23C engine and, while I'm not ready yet to remount everything (the engine head is still at the workshop) there is one thing I want to make clear now. I have seen the rebuild DVD and still have one question about exactly when to set the clearance of the valves. Ian explains how to set the first valve to adjust it and it is quite clear and then he says that you do the same for all the valves. My question is : when you set the crank, do you do both the exhaust and inlet valve of a cylinder at the same time or do you set the crank for every single valve ?
You may note that my english is weird but that's because I usually don't speak english. And the english I hear sometimes here in Canada is somehow diffferent than in the DVD but hey, you may understand something... Sorry!
P.S. One thing about the enlargment of the precombustion chamber hole. My engine was almost ruined when I dismantled it, the exhaust ports were all almost clogged, only 3/8 of an inche left, the four injector nozzle scrap, one cylinder liner cracked, all 4 pistons and rings scraps (some rings were totally missing) to tell all, the engine in the video looked like new to me. But, in cold mornings, say, minus 15, I used to plug the tractor one hour and it always started. I talked to the mechanics at the workshop where they do my head about the enlargement and they said that if the engine was starting in the condition it was, it is gonna start like hell when repaired, they didn't figured how the enlargement would help and believed in good maintenance and a coolant heater instead of a head modification.
that's it, Bye!
hey, answer to the question !
