3 Point Hitch

I have completed the 23C engine rebuild and would like to thank the Vintage Tractor Engineer for the help via online and the video. A tremendous help. The tractor starts and runs great. I have used a hay tedder for 5 hours today and loved it! The 3 point hitch would not pick up the tedder unless reved all the way up. Once I let the tractor idle the teddar slowly descended. Also had great trouble engageing the PTO at engine speed. The "plunger" connected to the top link seemed quite loose. The rubber seal had rotted off. Where is the first place to look for problems on the hydraulic side? Whats with the PTO being hard to engage ?

    Hello Ian
Thanks for the information. I did the o ring replacement. Have not had a chance to hook on to the tedder and see how it works. I also adjusted the freplay on the clutch and adjusted the PTO clutch according to the link above. The PTO seems to still start instantly when I engage it. The PTO clutch appears to visually disengage. There appears to be an oil leak as the interior of the bell housing is coverer with oil. Also the PTO clutch looks to have oil on it. I currently have to start the tractor with the PTO engaged as it grinds horribly when I try to engage with the tractor running. Any further suggestions ??

As always, I really appreciate the advice

    Hello Ian

Finally had a chance to try out the repairs. The O-ring rerplacement had no effect. The tedder will raise to full while the engine is wide open then slowly descends as the rpm are reduced. The clutch adjustment seemed to work but the PTO still grinds when engaging and while nothing is attache to the PTO it can be engaged but the PTO turns immediatley before the clutch is released. What Next ?
    thanks Alan
