Hi, I have a 1959 4 cylinder diesel (23c)
Just been pulled out of a field after a good few years, got it running sweet, clutch seamed to be stuck on so I split the tractor and replaced the clutch plate, problem is when I tighten down the pressure plate bolts the 3 fingers are pulling in as if the clutch is being pressed. I have a 1,1/2 inch gap between the thrust bearing and the 3 fingers, do I need to be looking at putting shims between the flywheel and pressure plate?? Anyone know the answer to what I have wrong, thanks,
I am restoring a to 35 with the 23c standard diesel and every thing has been repaired or replaced and I found that my camshaft and tappets are bad.Any help would be appreciated Thank You
Hey Sean

Ive purchased stuff from them earlier and they quite helpful and deliver surprisingly fast.

Hi, I have just got a 35 (1958) 4cyliner 23c and undertaking a complete engine rebuild as it has dropped a value and I require a new combustion chamber, does anyone know where I could source one from?
Also i need a new fuel bowl housing as the threads are dead but I can’t seem to find a replacement as it’s separate to the lift pump (fits on the fuel tank) and all the replacements are different. Any help would be great.
Thanks in advance.
Dan

Hi Mike, Yes mine is based on the FE35 with the (23c) diesel engine. It is my first project as i am 14 and started on the engine at the start of the week, i just removed the cylinder head tonight after school and am going ahead with a full engine rebuild. I think mine was bought yellow form massey ferguson and sprayed blue by the council also it is a round winged model with the original massey ferguson bonnet. Mine seems to have the loader bracket bolts but i think the loader was removed some time age. Yes i need the wheel cylinder for mine on both sides. I have found a supplier but they are on exchange? so i though maybe i would get in touch soon and see if i could arrange a price for the wheel cylinder without exchange? i hope this sight helps and if you find out anything else about brakes please tell me here. Here is the site http://www.silverfoxtractorspares.com/brakesrear-axle–pto-114-c.asp thanks for the reply, regards Mark.
Hi Mark, i also have a Massey Ferguson 4 cyl diesel. i think it’s based on the FE35, it is the standard motor company diesel engine (23c) and also has hydraulic and mechanical brakes. I’m not sure what model it is? 202,702, workbull?? It is an industrial model as it’s yellow. it has the round wings like a 35 but has a cast flast fronted nose. it did have a front loader fitted but it was removed and sold before i managed to rescue the tractor. As you’ve probably guessed i too am having problems finding brake parts. i’m missing the master cylinder and one wheel cylinder!! Please let me know if you find a supplier for any brake parts. Regards….Mike.
Hi, i just purchased a massey ferguson 35, it is 4 cylinder and i believe it is a ex-council the coulor seems to be mainly blue. I think it is arround 1958 and has live drive also it has hydraulic brakes which i believe are quite rare and are not made any more. i have now got it running but does anyone know where i can find out the history of this tractor and parts for it as needs complete restoration? i have a number plate and could probaly get any numbers on the tractor. Also does anyone know if i can get brakes or any parts for them as for they are hydraulic and use brake fluid and i cant find anywhere? i hope someone can help regards mark.

Steve.
I have purchased an MF35, it has no plates on it due to the dash panel being rotten. How can I find out what year it was built etc?

Hey, My father has a Massey Ferguson M35 FE-35 Tractor, SN: snm220357. We need to order some rims for it. I believe the year is 1960 or 1961 based on what I can find online. Can anyone confirm for me? Do we need any more information to order rim’s for this tractor?
Ashley Spear: On my TO35, the gear box, differential and hydraulics share the same fluid supply, and is checked by the dip stick on the right hand side just in front of the axle housing, would figure yours is the same. FYI, there are two drain plugs on the left side, oddly, of two different sizes. Front (gearbox) is 1 1/16″ I think, and the rear plug is 15/16″, and the capacity is listed as 32 quarts.
I have a Massy Tractor and know very little about it.. The Numbers on the four cylinder gas engine are G17625984 on the data plate on the continiel engine and G176A600P on the block just above the oil pan. Can any one help with any information. Appreciate any help… email homie42@windstream.net
I have 1957 FE35 4 cyl petrol ser no SGM35718, could you please tell me what the gear box and diff type of oil and how much they hold and how do you determin the level of the gear box as there is no dip stick, would appreciate your help. Regards Ashley
dear vintage tractor engineer
i have just got your engine overhual dvd in the post. i have found this very helpful. As I am only 14 my mechanical skilss are slightly lacking but your dvd has given me the confidence (with a little help from knowledgeable grand fathers)to rebuild the clunky engine of my mf35. But there is one problem the engine on my tractor is the 3 cylinder perkins engine. so i wondered if you have the data specifications and torques sheet for the 3 cylinder perkins (like the one above). if you dont do you know where i can get this information.
many thanks for a great dvd

Hi Rob,
Just take a look at the Massey Ferguson 35 serial number page.
That would make yours a 1958.
Steve (VTE)
i have a 4 cylendar 35 that has been found in a bad way there are no data plates except a tiny peice on the right hand side when looking from the seat which has the number sdm93766 stamped on to it can this and the engine number be used to age it.
Hi Michael,
The most important number is the serial number. This is printed into the plate on the dash panel – right hand side, just above your right knee as you sit on the seat.
There are plenty of suppliers of parts. Massey Ferguson still provide many of the parts if you are looking for genuine parts from their network of local dealers. Otherwise there ar companies such as Southern Counties Tractor Spares, Agriline Products, and lots of others.
Steve.
I have a MF 35, which i have just gotten. I am trying to find parts but not sure what numbers i need off of the engine or transmission or even where to locate them. Can anyone provide me with any information, it would be greatly appreciated. Also, where can i get parts for this, i have searched the web and every where i have looked or called they say the parts are no longer available.
Colin
Have a Grey and Gold FE35 serial no SGF43592,2 owners since new
has been looked after like a baby,I think I must have been the
first to have the tappet cover off,as the clearances varied
from 4thou to 16 thou.
I take from your specs that the petrol is the same valve
clearance,I am sure their is not a mark of a screwdriver on
trying to set tappets,if you could confirm they are the same
I would be ever thankful
if its a grey & gold it is a 56/57 year. The number is found below the water temp. guage on the front panel. The year is found on the engine block on the right hand side behind the steering arm.hope this helps
have a 35 with no data plate could i find age through engine number/ also did the petrol only 35 have a heat sheild fitted to manafold?
hello
