Hi Fred,Maybe you need a bit more Ford expertise. Try the Ford and Fordson Association. Sorry I cannot be of more help.

Your Ford serial number info is veryeasy to follow. However, along with a number of other experts it fails to aknowledge that this series was also built in 1975. I have a Force 3000 numbered 5A09B, thus January 9th. 1975 on the day shift. The serial number is B948007. Is this one of the last?
Regards Bob4
The Vintage Tractor Engineer says:March 27th, 2008 at 7:16 pm
Bob,Thanks for adding your tractor’s serial number, giving some additional information about serial numbers and informing us about the continuation of the building of these tractors into 1975.
Presumably you know that your serial number (B948007) is one of the higher numbers and thus it is a 1975 machine. Do you know if there is any distinction between 1965 and 1975 in the ‘5′ of 5A09B ?5
Bob Callaby says:March 28th, 2008 at 4:27 pm
There does not appear to be any distinction. Perhaps they meant to stop in 1974 but forgot to turn the tap off!

My stepson and I just purchased a used Ford 5000 and from the model number I believe it was produced in 1969 (E1014C, 9L03B, C254448). Does the serial number seem to be in the correct range for a 1969 5000?9
Vintage Tractor Engineer says:April 11th, 2008 at 5:03 pm
David,This gentleman has a June 1969 USA built 5000 with a serial number of C241358, so your serial number fits in with the November 1969 date for your tractor.
1968 tractors start at serial number C190200
1969 tractors start at serial number C226000VTE

Can you tell me what LCG stands for? I’m working on a 1969 4000, LCG, gas, live 540 pto, 8 speed and can’t figure out what it is.Rick
11
The Vintage Tractor Engineer says:April 16th, 2008 at 3:25 pm
Rick,I believe that LCG stands for Low Centre of
Gravity.
The LCG models should have smaller rear wheels and shorter drop arms on the front axle than the standard models. I think some of these
tractors were numbered 4110 and most of them were used for amenities work for city councils or golf courses where mowing work was to be done on steep bank sides, so many of the tractors were on turf tyres.12

Can anyone help, please ?

Nick From France says:October 23rd, 2008 at 6:39 pm
Hello again !This is for Dirk :
5F19B should mean 1965 – June – the 19th – Day
I was told today that there once was a Ford Factory building tractors in Anvers (Belgium) that does no longer exists.
I also found another person who has a serial number begginning with a “A103 …” identified as the serial number on his Ford 2000 registration document.
And amazingly, this person lives in… belgium !
I guess the machines build in this factory weren’t marked the same way as the US or GB machines ?28
Nick From France says:October 23rd, 2008 at 6:48 pm
This is for Mike (post#19 here above) :C means the 60’s decade and 7 is the year.
so : C7 means 1967(and further : 6015 means “engine block for tractors”, 7006 means “gearbox”, AH and AK are the versions)
Check this for detailed informations :

I recently purchased a CD from eBay that has all the parts and numbers as well as pictures of the 2000-7000 Fords. After a trip to the Ford dealer this past weekend, I found that at least the numbers Ichecked were the actual part numbers.

Hi,
The 4000 tractors have a 3 cylinder engine (both the petrol and diesel engines), whereas the 5000’s have a 4 cylinder engine.
This should be an easy way for you to identify the tractor.

I resently bought a tractor that was sold as a Ford 5000. Now I am not sure I got what I paid for. The serial #`s are very confusing to every dealer I`ve talked to.The #`s listed were your site suggested are from top to bottom are – 6C23C – D146 – B040772. I`m sure it`s made in Balsidon,England , but I`m no longer sure it`s a 5000. I`ve seen pictures to suggest it`s a 4000.Can you help?

I have found all this information in the first two sets of numbers. My Ford 3000 tractor was born on 10-05-1967. The SS number starts with A and the number is lower than the number starting in 1967. SS# is A159… so as I see my tractor is not numbered as USA or England. Could it be from Belgium as stated possible above? FYI I live in Florida not Belgium.

I have a Ford 4000 with the following numbers:
The data info behind the starter looks like this…….
41024C

I believe it was built in 1966, October 14th, 4000 tractor,AG. All Purpose, gas, PTO Independent 540, 8 speed.
What is the best source for parts, information and owners manual? Thanks for any help…I sold my last tractor in 1972 and am finally getting back into the farm experience.
Hi, I have an old 400 gas Ford tractor that was left outside lots before i got the tractor. The few numbers I can read on the right side of the tractor behind the starter are,
4102
C1082523 or 61082523
The numbers on the left side of the motor where the oil pan meets the block are PG U O 73 O 2A 5. The U and the two 0’s are weird looking numbers like a teepee. If by chance you could help out with what series 4000 this is, a pre 65 or later 65 it would really help out. It has the older wrap around grill, a 8/2 automatic transmission, and the small decals under the gas tank that say Ford 4000. Thank you very much for your time and effort for helping me out so i can order the correct parts,

Tom,
I have a diesel that has a similar serial B026544.
I have what I believe may be a similar L10 number stamped
I also have 5L3C stamp.
Tje L10 is on top, the 5L3C in the middle and the B026544 on bottom.
The 5L3C number is I am correct tells me it is was produced in November of 1965 so since your serial number is close it was probably produce a little earlier in 1965
Hope this helps
I just bought a 1970 Ford 4000 gas tractor. When I went to pick up some parts the clerk told me it had to be older than a 70. There are supposed to be 3 numbers on the pad next to the starter but mine only has 2. The top number is L185 (which doesn’t seem to match the coding above) and the serial number is B*026444. I understand that it was made in Basildon, England but TractorData only shows serial numbers for the American made (C) tractors. Any idea what year this tractor actually is?

You guys are good with Ford model identification. Here’s mine:

I was able to determine the following and it matches what is on the tractor:
XXX1 = Diesel
XXX14 = Independent 540 PTO
XXX14K = 6/4 Manual Reversing
What is the model?
