This little Grey Fergie has had foot plates added, wheras originally it would have just had the foot pegs. The foot plates make it much easier to get onto the seat, are more comfortabe when driving the tractor and (in conjunction with the added side plates) make for better safety. The wings have been drilled so that the side plates can fasten to them.
The major problem with the foot plates can be seen in this last photograph. When the brake pedals are pressed (left or right), the heel of the pedal catches on the foot plate before the brakes start to work.
The first thing we will do before starting on the engine is to remove these foot and side plates.

i had similar footplates fitted. you may have to tighten up your brakes a bit, if not they are simple to remove. your brakes may be really worn so they might need replacing.
Steve, did you ever make a TEF engine rebuild DVD, i bought the 35 engine DVD, hopefully it can help with my TEF, but if you have made , are making, a TEF DVD, i would be greatful if you could let me know when its for sale.
cheers

Hi Adrian,
Yes we are going to make a DVD of the engine rebuild. We have chosen to do a TEF because we get lots of people asking for a video, as there are so many of these tractors with worn engines.
We haven’t started the rebuild yet, just waiting for some slightly warmer weather. If all goes OK then I predict that the DVD will be ready by mid-summer (but it usually takes us a bit longer than I plan!!!).
Keep an eye on the website over the next few months as I will be updating the information as we go along.
I can email you when the DVD is ready.
Steve.
just did a search and got to this page. Are you doing a video of the engine rebuild? I just bought a TEF that is a bit smokey and am intending a rebuild next winter. Great stuff, I’m looking forward to the rest of this article.
