This photo has been sent in by Steven. He has a French built MF835, which is basically very similar to the MF35 tractor (there is a modified version of the Standard 23C engine in these tractors).
When he was lifting a heavy load on the 3 point linkage there was a loud crack and the load dropped to the ground. Steven suspected a broken lift cylinder and this turned out to be the case. Steven suspects that ther relief valve had stuck in the closed postion, but isn’t exactly certain of what caused the cylinder to break.
Whilst the top cover is removed he is also going to refurbish the pump and check everything else.
This just reminds us of the magnitude of damage that can sometimes occur in powerful hydraulic systems.
Hi VTE. This just landed in my mail inbox. I immediately notice the oil in the broken cylinder. You see how it is emulsified with water is a likely cause of the destruction. There is water (H2O) which is compressed causes heat. Boiled water creates a gas (O2) which in the presence of pressurized oil is a crude form of deisel engine.BOOM. minute combustion= broken cylinder. Fact is one cannot run dirty contaminated oil in a hydraulic system. Keep it clean.
Out of interest have you a picture of this item unbrocken to compare.
